Dam:
PLA1 Silver Shikai
| 30958067 | Medium Silver Grey |
3/4 Chilean, 1/4 Peruvian - Shikai is the product of an excellent breeding program at Pine Lake Alpacas (retired). She is one of the most beautiful greys you will find. She has dark around her eyes that gives her the "mascara look". Her fleece is fine, dense, and has a very tight crimp to it. Shikai is the princess of the farm. She is so easy to handle that all who are around her love her. When bred to white she gave us a gorgeous medium silver. When bred to silver we got a black and when bred to black she gave us dark silver. WOW! Exactly what we are looking for in our breeding program. With Shikai's excellent lineage we look forward to her offspring every year.

Top producer.
Journie ribboned in every show she was entered. A judge described her fleece as highly advanced for a grey and another commented on her brightness and long staple length. She is healthy with correct conformation, bite and proportions from her nose to her toes as well as a lovely, uniformly fine (low SD) and bright fleece. She has one of the most typey heads you'll find on a gray and a people friendly disposition.
Her sire is 7x champion Peruvian Black Epic who is considered to be the best black sires in the country. He's out of a grey dam, yet only 5 of Epic's 89 registered offspring are grey at this writing. Epic is known for his uniformly fine and very dense fleece and his offspring have earned over 50 championships.
Epic's fleece statistics:
2000: 20.5/3.3/16.1/1.8 (cria fleece)
2001: 22.8/4.0/17.3/4.2; 4.5 lb. blanket
2003: 5.5 lb. blanket
2005: 15 pounds total!
Journie's fine-fleeced dam is a daughter of the famous Aussie Rockford and PLA's Silver Empress (dam of the famous black, Michelangelo). Coincidentally, I purchased by first alpacas from Pine Lake Alpacas.
